“I was referred to Wilder Pantazis by another attorney because of the complexity of my case. It was 2 separate claims involving workers’ compensation and liability. Both were handled in a professional, but friendly manner that made me feel at ease during a difficult time. I highly recommend the Wilder Pantazis law firm.”

If you were hurt at work, we understand the confusion and frustration that you are probably experiencing right now. In addition to coping with your injuries and working hard to improve your physical recovery, there are phone calls that must be made, forms to be filled out, as well as communication that must take place between your employer, insurance companies, doctors’ offices, nurse case managers…the list goes on and on.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and make a mistake at a time like this, but one small slipup can derail your entire claim and leave you stranded, struggling to pay the bills, make ends meet and provide for your family. You might think your employer is looking out for your best interests, only to be shocked when your workers’ compensation claim is denied.
It’s important to understand that what ultimately drives your employer and their insurance company is NOT your personal and financial well-being, but rather their bottom line.
In North Carolina and South Carolina, workers’ compensation systems have been set up as a financial safety net to protect hardworking people who suffer an accident, injury or illness while on the job. This safety net is put in place — regardless of fault — to help struggling individuals and families pay their bills while living with a work-related injury.
Unfortunately, the workers’ compensation system isn’t perfect. The process can be confusing and many legitimate claims are denied, forcing injured workers to appeal their case. If you were hurt while working and have questions or need help, it’s time to contact an experienced workers’ compensation lawyer near you.
At the Wilder Pantazis Law Group, the right resolution and outcome for you and your family is always our top priority. We’re 100% dedicated to providing the highest quality of legal services in the areas of workers’ compensation, personal injury, and complex civil litigation.

Your first consultation is 100% free of charge
One of the most common questions we get asked is:
All of our workers’ compensation and personal injury cases are taken on a “contingency fee” basis. This means that you pay no money upfront and there is no fee for the initial consultation. Instead, your lawyer will take their fee as a percentage of your final settlement. If we don’t win your case, then you owe us nothing. It’s that simple.
In North Carolina, the fee a workers’ compensation attorney can charge is regulated by the state and must be approved by the Industrial Commission. The standard fee is 25%, which typically comes out of your final settlement or award.
In South Carolina, the maximum fee rate attorneys can charge is regulated by the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission and is set at 33%, which comes out of your settlement proceeds.
During your first meeting with our knowledgeable work injury lawyers, we will listen to your story and discuss important liability issues as well as what compensatory damages you may be entitled to — including medical bills, lost wages, physical pain, emotional suffering, disability and wrongful death. In some cases, punitive damages may be awarded.

When to hire a work injury lawyer?
Not all work-related accidents, injuries and illnesses require you to lawyer up. If you only suffered minor injuries with no complications, didn’t miss work and your claim was accepted, then you may not need professional workers’ compensation representation.
However, if any of the following statements are true, we strongly recommend you reach out to one of our experienced attorneys for legal advice:
- Your workers’ compensation claim is denied or disputed
- Your benefits are delayed or reduced for no reason
- You have a pre-existing condition
- The settlement offered doesn’t cover all of your past and future medical bills, lost wages and other expenses
- Your injury is so severe that it limits or prevents you from returning to work
- You plan to apply for Social Security disability benefits (or are currently receiving them)
- Your employer retaliates against you for filing a workers’ compensation claim
- You need to negotiate with an insurance company
- You were injured by a third party or your employer’s gross misconduct (i.e. unsafe working conditions)
- You have an upcoming workers’ compensation hearing
If any of these conditions are true, it’s urgent that you consult with a qualified work injury lawyer near you as soon as possible. The clock is ticking.
Contact us now. We’ll help protect your rights by ensuring that all of the necessary forms are files, deadlines are met, and evidence is gathered to successfully negotiate and support your claim. If necessary, we’re fully prepared to represent you at a workers’ compensation hearing to fight for the best possible outcome in your case.
